If you need an inexpensive gift for someone, how about a Gift Certificate for the Mazatlan Reading Library? Any amount will be appreciated by a reader, I am sure, especially if that reader is looking for good literature in English. A full membership for a year is only $250 pesos. Limited membership (one book at a time) costs $100 pesos a year, and student membership is $150. For a smaller amount, you can give a friend a certificate to buy used books that we sell for 15 pesos each. Often, these are duplicates of what we have on the shelves. Good stuff! So for $45 pesos, your friend could pick out 3 books of choice from our selection of sale books. I should mention that almost all sale books are in English, but in the Library we have a very good collection of books in Spanish, including most of the famous Latin American and American authors. So, a gift membership to a Spanish reader would be most welcome too. Think of a low-paid teacher you know who would love to check out books in English and Spanish for students! We do have kids´ books. I bought memberships for a few friends last year because I could not think of anything better to get them. They loved it! Of course it was easy for me, because I work there and could just register them, pay the 25 bucks and present them with a membership card. But Loretta Gallacci, who manages the Library with me, came up with a better idea. She made some really attractive Gift Certificates so anybody can do the same. Think about it. The Library is located at Sixto Osuna 115 in Mazatlán and is open 9 to 5 Monday to Friday and 10 to 2 on Saturday. Send me a message if you need more info. Dee
