A few people have given me some good feedback on my website. Please, if you are in El Bajio, let me know what you think, both good and bad. I'm in Centro Historico in Queretaro about a block from Plaza de Armas and my site is http://www.quintazoe.com/

Hello Zoeq1000,

You have a nicely planned web site. Neverthless as a commercial venture it should not be on this forum. I suspect that the forum moderator will move it just as soon as it is noted.

I will reply to you by private mail. Adios. jerezano.

Thanks for the feedback. Though Quinta Zoe is not open for business yet, this is the time I would love to hear what is needed and wanted in a nice place to stay. I'm painting my own canvas here and your comments are welcome.

Honest appraisal of the site design and implementation itself:

1) Since it is a fixed width, it would look much better on larger browser windows if the site content were floating in the center of the window instead of flush left.

2) The navigation buttons look nice. They feel like the crowd the text in your content area a little bit, but it's not a big issue and I'm not sure if increasing the padding between text and buttons would work or not.

3) The implementation of the look is a bit too image heavy, and while on a high bandwidth connection it's not horrible, it doesn't give that snappy, fast loading impression that is nice to see from a site. There are things that are done only with single images that could instead be done with a combination of HTML/CSS and multiple images, though the implementation would not be quite as simple. This would let you use smaller images to speed load time. A very simple change that would leave the appearance of the site unaffected, but speed load time considerably, would be to just convert all of your PNG images to JPEG images. PNG is a wonderful format, but not the best choice for what it is being used for on your site. There's nothing on your site that would suffer from being a JPEG, and your total image size would shrink considerably.

That's about all that I have right now.

1) I agree about the buttons... I found them hard to use with the popup room names. K.I.S.S. is the best rule.
2) The animated banner was annoying.
3) There's no picture of the hotel nor of the rooms. I probably wouldn't spend that amount of money on booking into a hotel that I haven't seen and maybe even a little suspicious wondering why no pics?....

I'd redo the site, thinking of it from the point of view of what information people are looking for and then giving it to them in the least amount of clicks.
For instance:
1st page should have a picture of the hotel from the outside and probably some of the shared facilities inside
1 click away from home page should be pictures of the rooms with a bulleted list of amenities
1 click away from home page should be price information and instructions on how to book a reservation
1 click away from home page should be any other information about services offered by the hotel along with pictures, menus, etc.
1 click away from home page should be a map and directions on how to get there via different modes of transport
1 click away from home page should be some general information about the area, tourist attractions, with one or two nice pictures and links to area guides

Here's the deal. There are no pictures of the property as of yet because it is still being remodeled, end date was supposed to be the first of December - oh yeah.... So, of course, I will have pix as soon as possible. I get what you are saying about don't separate the rooms - do in one click. So these things will be done in due time. Thanks again for your comments.

My wife and I are very interested in our own B&B in Mexico. Can you share any stories of the pitfalls?
