Growth in Jalisco is becoming more evident every day in our area. To work, some have to go to the U.S., Canada, or a larger city like Guadalajara. Same held true for any major competitive shopping or entertainment, people had to go to Guadalajara. Now growth is becoming evident in areas creating new jobs and promoting new businesses. The changes are slow, but they are coming. Very near our town is the city of Ciudad Guzman. This town now has almost all major car dealerships, a Gigante, a La Marina Department Store, etc and a new Soriana store was just opened. They are also planning to build a Walmart. The town keeps growing. In our town a few miles north, Walmart is about to sign a long term rental on some property to build a smaller store. Not definite, but we hope this goes through. Just one mile from our town on the road to Usmajac, some out-of-town investors just build a beautiful hotel, balneario and a restaurant. Some of the construction is still being completed. They have four or five pools with slides, wave makers. a soccer field, a basketball court, hand ball courts, covered picnic areas, snack bars and a restaurant. The facilities are available for locals or people staying at the hotel. They also have plans to build a golf course. I see all this activity as creating jobs, attracting additional business and creating competition and providing nearby shopping and recreation. Before, only if the people lived in a large city or had a vehicle, were these features available to all. That all seems to be changing. Below are some pictures of the hotel and balneario. This is not a commercial pitch. It is just that I was impressed that millions of pesos were spent on this site, in a not heavily populated farming community. http://www.swiftsite.com/...rement/Pictures1.htm
