Poblanos--dark green, light green and red?

I always thought poblanos only came in dark green, but a storekeeper assured me that both a brighter light green one and a red one the same shape and size were also poblanos.

We bought bunch of sthe light green ones and they were hotter than the dark green ones, which was fine with us. We're going to use them for chile rellenos from now on, assuming we'll ever see them again.

Did the storekeeper know what she was talking about?

I guess they are Carol. We grew some this year in Idaho. Some plants produced light green poblanos and others the dark variety. They are just now coming in for us, and we will be having some as Chiles Rellenos very soon.
