I was recently diagnosed with Entamoeba histolytica (amebic dysentery). I had/have all the usual symptoms; fever, chills, lethargy, and diarrhea. Not much fun. The doctor prescribed a medicine called Kitnos which contains the drug etofamida. I take 6 500mg pills for 3 days with a week long break and finish the treatment with an additional 6 pills. Is this a common prescription for amebic dysentery? What is the success of this drug? Any reoccurrences? How common is this in Mexico?
