Spanish courses at the beach

Can't Post |
Hello everyone,

I've lived in Mexico City for almost a year and since I was an English teacher, learned absolutly nothing! Now I'm looking for an intensive 1mth course by the beach (need to recouperate from Mex pollution!) Main condition is that it needs to be CHEAP!!!! I don't want to sacrifice quality but have very very limited resourses.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Try looking on Ron Mader's List of Spanish Language schools

http://www.planeta.com/schoolist.html

There is for example http://www.becasurf.com/index1.html

at Puerto Escondido.

There are also small schools at Manzanillo, Colima and La Manzanilla, Jalisco and Barra de Navidad etc. Also try typing in the name of the place and the words spanish language school in any comprehensive search engine like Google to further expand your search. Saludos Wendy

Mazatlan has several Spanish language programs, and doesn't seem to be on Ron's list. Dixie Davis has programs at her school, Centro de Idiomas de Mazatlan, which can be tailored to any length of time, and she has a good reputation. Website is spanishlink.org, and her email is centro@spanishlink.org. Martha Armenta is very popular, but her classes are for longer periods, unless you want to do one-on-one. You can contact her at spanish@prodigy.com.mx. The University of Sinaloa also offers classes, but I do not know any details. They probably are for a longer term than you can manage. I personally take classes from Hector Marquez, who has been contracted by Friends of Mexico, a beneficial/social association of mostly gringos. He is a wonderful teacher, but the inexpensive classes are held only once a week for 2 hours, in 8 week sessions. He teaches privately too, but this is not what you asked for! Anyway, check the websites above. Maz certainly is a great beach town, with cultural stuff galore, in which to learn the language! BTW, sorry I can't get the accent marks to work here, especially on MazatLAHN! Dee
