Palapas etc.

In Chapala,I have a rear patio which I would like to cover since it abuts other higher buildings (ugly). I was considering a Palapa of some sort to cut down on the heat (like now) and have an area for tropical water loving plants. There seems to be a negative slant on this forum to the palapas made with palm fronds (is there any other kind?)
Need ideas. Would consider a construction of a tile cover, but am wondering if the cost would be high.
IIt is an older house with the usual imbeded electrical box and wires snaking down the wall to whatever fixture wanted. I've been trying to find some type of cover for the box that doesn't resemble a construction site.
Does one cover the box with plaster and bury the line? In all the neat books I have, I can't see of that type of exposure....tried to peek into peoples homes to see how they have dealt with this issue, but feel this is not acceptable behavior.
Thank you
Richard

I have a card from Guillermo Sanchez Murillo, Palapas, cascadas Y estanques, Ingenieria de jardines,
Guadalajara: 683-1580

I picked up his card at San Juan Materiales. The owner, Sabrina is having a palapa put up on top of her garage, just across the drive from the Colonos office of Vista del Lago. Sabrina doe not speak english, but her employee, Angelica, does. The office number for San Juan Materiales is: 376-763-5361
