Temperature in San Miguel

According to CNN weather, the temperature now (at mid-day Friday) is 64 with an expected high of 99. The 25 degrees separating those two numbers make that prediction seem hard to believe. Are those numbers really correct? Thanks for any clarification you can provide.

That's an entirely likely forecast. The high temperature usually comes about mid-afternoon, but a light (or even not-so-light) evening breeze cools things off as soon as the sun goes down.

This time of year in Central Mexico is HOT--hot and dry. Humidity is regularly in the 10% vicinity. It's often written that the average temperature in San Miguel is 75 or thereabouts. You do the math. If the high for the day is 99 and the low for the night is 50, average it out. Yep.

Once the rains start, usually late May to early June, those high temperatures will be substantially lower--10 to 20 degrees lower.

That sounds about like any place with a relatively low humidity and a fairly high altitude.

Here at about 5700 feet of altitude on a plateau in Wyoming, nights can often drop to close to 50 degrees even when days get up to high 90s or low 100s. Summer or winter, 50-60 degree temperature swings in 24 hours are not uncommon all along the high and dry areas that I am familiar with.

What about Dec., Jan. , and Feb.? I know it can get cold. There are a lot of gas heaters in San Miguel. How does it compare to Mexico City? My family has never had any heaters in their homes in Mexico City. They just bundle up with sweaters and blankets. And it can get cold there. Is it the same or colder? Then of course not to spark up a debate, the temperatures seem to be in general growing more extreme.
