Construction costs? "expensive" areas

Can't Post | Private Reply
I would appreciate any "ball-park" numbers on construction costs
in a popular area such as San Miguel de Allende. This would be for more upscale construction using quality fixtures, hardware, some granite, etc. The building site is on the side of a hill, construction would be 4000 - 5000 sq/ft on three levels. We would not be building ourselves, but would use the conventional route with an architect. The last numbers that I was given were in 2002 at 65-80 dollars per sq/ft. Thanks for any input.

For upscale construction, I'd go a little higher. Hard to tell though, those luxury items can really vary. You do save money doing it on three floors. That's a heck of a big house for this area.
