I am buying a house in Morelia and need to shop for furniture. I love the indigenous rustic stuff, but my sciatica is screaming for at least one comfortable stuffed, upholstered chair to spend the evening in with my books and music. Any sympathetic readers out there? Bunny

I don't know abour Morelia, but even in the small town of Chapala there is a furniture store that carries LazyBoy recliners.

There are several places where you can find leather LazyBoy-type recliners and nice leather furniture in a wide variety of colors. First check out Fabricas de Francia, and then go across the street to Mythos. Then go over to the strip mall on Camelinas which shares a parking lot with Office Depot and which has a Farmacia Guadalajara. There is a store specializing in leather furniture which has some very good deals.

What are you looking for? Morelia has a very broad selection of furniture. Start at Fabricas de Francia and Sears. There are many regular furniture stores all along Av. Camelinas.

I feel your pain. When my esposa and I were hunting furniture for our new house, we turned Morelia up one side and down the other. Mexican furniture, as you have noticed, is either incredibly ugly, incredibly uncomfortable...or both.

We finally found some really nice stuff that didn´t cost a fortune at Fimsa. I may have that name a little off. It´s a large furniture store almost next door to Suburbia on Ave. Camelinas, same side of the street. Alas, you posted your query a month ago, so you´ve likely already bought what you need. I still recommend the place to others.
