Shortcut

It's 81 high, 41 low these days, and the road to Celaya is still a mess

Those are two disconnected topics, unless you've had to drive to Celaya recently and ended up on a dusty dirt road detouring through Comonfort, which is still under massive road construction.

It was so hot we needed to keep the windows open but the dust poured in, and I'm not sure which needs another bath tonight more, me or the washed-yesterday car.

On the way home we could still take the main street, even if on one lane dodging construction trucks and 10-foot-deep ditches. But going toward Celaya the bypass takes you past the rear service entrance of Casa Diana furniture with no place to stop, if you're thinking of visiting that excellent store any time soon.

The 27 mile trip took an hour and a half going, an hour returning. Shoulda gone to Queretaro.
