Poinsettias everywhere!

The city of San Miguel went wild over noche bonitas this year and has planted them everywhere, in the street dividers of main streets into town, around the gloriettas, alongside all the major buildings, and in the Jardin, the entire city a blaze of red!

The housekeepers in this complex seem to have planted all past year's poinsettia plants all over our courtyard, and this time of year we have red flowers all the way to the second floor, peeking in our dining room window to go with our Christmas decorations we put up last night.

It's also been a very mild December so far, and we haven't had to turn on our propane heater at night yet. Still short sleeves during the sunny days that have reached 81, and a jacket and socks are sufficient for nighttimes that seem to have hit around 40 as the lowest. We had a very cold spell that came on fast a few weeks ago, but it mellowed back out. It is so beautiful here! We've been here 2 1/2 yeas now and still love it as much as ever.

Yes it has been mild. Here in our garden in Irapuato we have bugambilia, roses, hybiscus, calla lillies and birds of paradise blooming. It doesn't feel very "Christmas-y", but who cares!

Just wait until Thursday. Rain is forecast and the lows are supposed to be sub-freezing Thursday, Friday and Saturday, as far as the forecast projected.

I'm happy to report that CNN has withdrawn the forecast of subfreezing temperatures at week's end as quickly as they had made it. So, we can all delay adding that extra blanket on the bed.
