HOODIA

I just saw the 60 Minutes news article on Hoodia. My wife says she has seen this plant in Zacatecas. I assured her that this plant is only found in South Africa. However, I want to check with others to make sure. Has anyone seen this plant in Mexico?

I saw the "60 MInutes" segment too, and thought to myself, it looks like some common cacti I've seen in Mexico and also back in Arizona.

But since the segment made it clear it was only found in that part of South Africa, and they've had to grow more plants and picked that region only to do so (when it had to be much cheaper for transportation and such to do it in a US desert area), I'd go along with "60 Minutes."

It sure did sound like a wonder drug, didn't it? But the last miracle drug for weight loss, Meridia, is now being put in the same group as Vioxx, a wonder drug with really bad side effects that didn't show up right away. By 2008 when it is supposed to be on the market, I hope there are some long-range (at least four-year) medical studies available.

Have you noticed that folks wanting to lose weight will subscribe to ANY, and I mean ANY program as long as the program does not include exercise?

The problem with Hoodia is that it kills your appetite. Please someone come up with some substance that whets the appetite and speeds up the metabolism. I am not referring to hash here.

I have noticed that big fat guys such as yours truly, are the one's always using Candarel or other artificial sweeteners while skinny folks use sugar. There must be a lesson there but I refuse to listen.

I agree that exercise is vital to living a fit and hopefully long life! Losing weight while exercising also works, but many people, myself included, find that they only maintain their weight? What's up? Wheat Belly that's what's up or out! I just discovered why, after 45 years of exercise and doing every diet imaginable why, I ultimately failed and gained back the weight. The book, "Wheat Belly" by a cardiologist who has done an extensive study of wheat and the effects of it on the body is mind boggling! I cannot stress enough, that this book should be read by everyone. Since being on the Wheat Belly regime, I have lost 35 lbs and have no trouble keeping it off. Do yourselves a favor and go to the "Wheat Belly" website to get more info and the book! You will find a new way of living that will excite you and lead to ultimate weight lose and vibrant health!

Thanks Tony. I did neglect to look at the dates, but wonder why it was even in the forum? I still suggest that ones general health can be improved with the digestion of the info in the book, I recommended everyone should read.
