A new webpage and a little cop story

With the help of David Bodwell of Mazatlán, I have made a webpage on how to get an FM3 with a working permit. http://Rollybrook.com/workingfm3.htm

This morning before church, I was driving past the corner of the Plaza where there is a morning taco stand. One of my cop friends was standing in the street eating a taco. He motioned me to pull over, and he bought me a taco. Who says all Mexican cops are bad guys? He works a really bad corner near Doña Martha's house. Whenever I come to his corner, right away he stops traffic so I can make my left turn. His only English is "Good Morning," so that is what he says whenever I pass, no matter what the time.

How did I get to be friends with all the tránsitos in town? Simple. I wave at each one as I drive by. So few people are friendly toward the cops that it doesn't take long to make an impression. Now some of the guys wave at me first. And it's hard for a cop to put a bite on a friend.

Actually, that was the second time. A year or so ago, when I was renewing my driver's license, I was one peso short of having the correct change (required). Another of my transito friends was in line behind me with his son who was getting his first license. Just as I was about to leave to go get change, the cop handed me a peso.

It pays to be nice to people.
