A new one on me...

When I renewed my FM3 last year in Leon, Guanajuato, the clerk made a mistake and validated it from "2004 to 2005" instead of from "2003 to 2004". I noticed this some time later, but thought I'd just wait for the renewal. Anyway, when I tried to get it renewed in Puerto Vallarta a couple weeks ago (I had previously changed my address), my lawyer was told that it was valid until 2005 since it was stamped and signed and that nothing needed to be done. They didn't want my money or anything. I asked the lawyer to get a letter from them stating that I had attempted to renew, but they refused.

Has anyone ever had such a situation and does anyone foresee any problems for me because of this?

For an FM-3, I wouldn't sweat it. Now, if the same error involved an FM-2, there would be cause for concern.

Of course, this shouldn't be construed as legal advice, and if anyone is crazy enough to do so, then it's worth what he or she paid for it.
