Two slices of whole wheat bread(toasted). This stuff comes from the natural food store on Zaragosa near the park. Cost for a loaf of this delicious bread baked daily: 12 pesos. A few pieces of chicken from my favorite barbequed chicken place....spicey BIG chickens cooked over carbon and with spices: 60 pesos, three slices of salami cocido of which most people aren't aware that it's sold and the Mexicans I've talked with don't like it: 56 pesos a kilo, mayo, mustard, lettuce, escabeche de Jalepena(chopped), tomate....wow! have the prices skyrocketed : 23 pesos a kilo....all this sprinkled with Salsa en polvo de Tajin....

Pita, baked in D.F. and bought at the health food store here, was the basis for my breakfast, filled with sliced chicken breast leftover from cooking the rest of the chicken for the dogs' food. I'm still eating off the frozen chickens ($19/kilo) that I got for half price during Costco's summer sale. Costco romaine and salsa Valentina finished off the sandwich.

This evening I'm invited to my sister's for carne asada, so I'm not going to eat anything until then. I drove all the way to a place near Mercado Independencia in search of the best tortillas de harina in the city, only to find the place closed, so the ones at the abarrote in the 'hood will have to suffice.

I think that was the price of tomatoes you were amazed at. I am NOB and the price of pitiful, anemic tomatoes at Kroger is $2.90 a pound. Florida lost their tomato crop and some say that is the reason. We are eating very green salads.
