Zacatecas to San Luis Potosí

Has anyone driven the road from Zacatecas to San Luis Potosí recently? Last we saw it was under construction, with a lane or two being added. How is it now?

Hello Pat,

Not really much change. You didn't say when you last drove it. I drove it last about 6 months ago. A friend drove it two months ago and again a month ago. He reports the same.

From Zacatecas to the San Luis Potosí turnoff is now four lane with a beltway around Trancoso and is in very good condition. From that turn off across the valley and into the hills the surface has been replaced and is in good condition more or less to Panfilo Natera. From there on across the plains the road has been maintained so as to maintian a 60 mile an hour surface with no problems, 70 miles an hour with some jolts. Once into the mountains and on other areas you will find some construction going on, but my friend reports no problems with detours etc.
