We are considering retiring in the Lake Chapala area. Are their any heart doctors in the area. Do American doctors practice there? My husband is a diabetic and has heart disease. It's important that we know about the medical care. Thank you.

There are supposed to be some excellent cardiologists in Guadalajara. If you check with a U.S. cardiologist, they should be able to look in a directory listing for Mexico of cardiologists who meet the standards of the U.S. professional group (American Assn. of Cardiologists?).

Sorry, Mr. Bill, when you said "one moved into the plaza..." is that an American Cardiologist or Mexican Cardiologist? I don't mind either one, as I know there are outstanding physicians in Mexico. I'm curious, however.<p>Thanks again.<p>T.T.

Thank you Mr. Bill. What do you use for medical insurance, since US insurances generally do not accept out of country treatment?
