ummm! yum-yum! Whataburger! Thinking of this is the only time I miss hot, muggy Port Aransas, Texas. What with Whataburger being Texas based, wouldn't you think they'd come on down?

You cretins have no concept of what constitutes a great burger. Yeah, yeah, Burger King is OK if you have no other choice, but for a truly sublime burger experience you have to go to the Helvetia Tavern out in the country near Hillsboro, OR. It is a Portland-area instititution, rather like the Northlake Tavern in Seattle is for pizza. The rich and famous travel far and wide for a Helvitia burger and tack autographed ball caps to the ceiling. I can see myself going back north every year just for a Helvetia/Northlake fix.

Sorry Gary, but you're off base. We all know favorite "local" burger, etc. joints nob. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize they will not materialize sob, and certainly not Lakeside. The "good" big guys like Burger King and Whataburger do have that capability and possibility. BTW, one of the best burgers I have EVER had was at a sidewalk cafe just a little toward Chapala on the Carreteria from Lakeside Grocery. Can't remember the name, but the manager is Alex.

Oh, I guess I know that. But a name called is a name called. And deserves a response. And "cretin" is pretty strong. Otherwise, all of you are idiots I've enjoyed reading the sage advice thereof and would just be that...at bunch of idiots. Now I will not let you be called that!! (Sort of out of that speech from the trial in "Animal House.") All in fun. (Time for some fun here...I'm semi-depressed from reading the posts on the Chapala boards!)

Hey, Bubba -

The first time I post on this board in the months since they kicked you off, I make a little joke, and some thin-skinned non-rocket-scientist (judging from his post) takes me literally and gets offended.

And here I just knew that a Helvitia Tavern burger outlet at Lakeside surely had to happen as a matter of pure logic and that I would no longer have to travel 3000 miles to get one. It's a damned good thing the Texas Wheel clued me in to that, or I could have gone on indefinately laboring under the misconception that ambrosia would soon be just around the corner.

Easy, Gary, easy! You must know that Burger love and Rocket Surgery don't necessarily go hand in hand. Just keep thinking barbeque and you'll be alright.

Hurry back.

Hi, UJ -

I'll be back before Sept. 1. Rex Wilson has fixed me up with what he says is a very nice 2BR rental on Zaragoza (I think it's still Zaragoza out there), a block S of the Carratera and not far from Plaza Bouganbilias and for a very reasonable price. So I should hopefully see y'all by the time the next get-together at Tom's happens.

Hasta Luego,
GA

Mea culpa Gary, UJ and all,

I was not trying to be offensive, and in my second post on the subject I think I explained the humor, apparently not connecting, I was trying to convey. Heck, if a Helvetia burger is all that good, bring it on!

Texwheel:

If nobody else got the humor in your second post, I certainly did since it has overtones (or undertones) of Bubba Humor. And, anyway, everyone knows that only cretins eat White Castles when Krystal Sliders are available. However, since only frozen While Castles are available down here, I guess I'll join the cretin club after Dr. Atkins has restored my ability to see my feet again. That will take a while.

Thanks, Bubba. It is never my intent to offend anyone...well, not too much! I'm not much at creating humor, but do think that one of my era (or eon, as it may be!) should ocassionally brush up by watching "Animal House", "Hair", "Caddyshack", et. al., at least twice a year. And I hear you on Atkins. I'm in the same boat!
