New authentic Italian restaurant now open!

Just opened in Ajijic is La Taverna del Quattro Mori, now open daily, breakfast, lunch and dinner (may close on Tuesday in the future). The owner/chef is Italian from Florence, makes her own pasta, everything is freshly prepared. Seafood direct from the wholesale fish market in Zapopan. Although there are several restaurants in town which call themselves Italian, this is the real thing!<p>The restaurant is located on Privada Las Flores. West of Ajijic on the carretera is that little strip shopping center which includes La Playa liquor store. The street at the west corner is Privada Las Flores - turn towards the lake, and it's immediately on your left. <p>Try it, see if you like it. Prices are about the same as Toscana. The couple do speak a little English; Spanish and of course Italian are fluent. The menu is in Italian and English.

We ate lunch there yesterday. Authentic is an apt description and the prices are right. House wine is $45 pesos a bottle! The salad greens such as arugula and ridiculo(sp?) are grown by the owners. They offer daily specials, try the lightly battered, deep fried vegetables. This is one restaurant that offers the real thing and not a watered down imitation. They truely deserve to succeed!
