SMA weather

It hasn't hit 100 yet, though today feels like it. I'm sure glad I didn't take Chumley's challenge--I'd have had to eat a gazillion habaneros since it's rained most days, and he wouldn't have had to eat one. Of course he'd be in jail for murder because I'd be dead from the habaneros which he would have had to stuff down my throat.

The original question--has SMA escaped the usual May and gone directly into the rainy season--can probably be answered with a yes. All the official tourism and government sites which say May is the hottest month are still right, this has been the hottest month, but it just hasn't hit 100. Maybe that sentence should have a "yet" on the end.

Boy, Carol, you're right, it sure has felt like 100 on one or more days so far this month. I'm moving the air around my westerly-facing apartment with a couple of fans and that seems to make all the difference. It has been as high as 90F inside but the moving air and as few items of clothing as possible makes it very livable. I really wondered when I came down if I was going to suffer the lack of a/c but so far so good. The 60F nights help a bit too, no? Cuidate, Miguelito

With temps in the 90's, is it still considered tacky to wear shorts in SMA? We'll be there next week and I'm wondering what to pack.
It's in the 90's in Florida now, but I seldom leave the air conditioning. (Of course, the humidity is about 1000%! They say hell is hot, but is it humid?)
Looking forward to some drier air.

A confession: I decided sometime in the past year that it was indeed tacky to wear shorts in fairly conservative inland San Miguel. Tourists looked so out of place with their white legs, sticking out from those who live here. Some Mexican men and certainly children do wear shorts, and the occasional Mexican woman does too, but shorts do look out of place. Ieven wrote to Jennifer Rose and told her that I had come around to her view, the thin muslin colorful pedal pusher length pants that are highly acceptable here are just as cool and comfy.

Guess what: when it gets near 90, my shorts come out. It is just too damn hot!

Thanks for the confession. That's what I thought. I guess long, gauzy skirts are cool, too. Hope it cools off a little when the rains start. Hasta pronto.
