We like to tipple a little. Is this acceptable there?

Make sure that all the tippling goes on with consenting adults.

Jack,
If I can ask, why do you keep mentioning this?
Do you see young Mexican girls/boys being abducted off the street or what?
I'd figure all the dirty old men would head to Bangkok for that sort of thing...

I'll second Cathleen's nomination of Tom Ivory's Bar Behind The Church in Ajijic. A friendly little expat hangout located exactly where you'd expect, it's a great place to meet some very nice and very helpful people. You'll have a good time in there.

When you're in Chapala go to a friendly little bar called "Tomas" on "Alvaro Obregon # 1" on the same street the Monday Mercado is on. Owner is American, superclean and great prices on everything. Tomas is not open on mercado day.
Enjoy

In Chapala the American legion isn't a bad place either. The food at lunch is pretty good too!
