Newest Internet Rumor??

Can't Post | Private Reply
I was languishing about one of our computer purveyors today and was told that cable internet service may soon be available here in Ajijic. Supposedly it is available now in Jocotepec and soon in the Raquet Club and in Ajijic a little latter this year.

Anybody know anything?

I have to go to the cable company tomorrow and I shall again ask. When I first asked about internet via cable 3 years ago, I got the soon maybe in 3 months. When I last asked two months ago, no one had any idea and felt that there were no imminent plans to offer cable via the internet here.

If there is cable internet service in Jocotepec, even the owner of the AJIJIC ISP who happens to live in Jocotepec doesn't know about it.

It sure would be nice, though, to have another competitor.

Well, I went to the Telecable office lakeside and asked if there was cable internet access in Jocotepec, or any other city along the lake between Chapala and Ajijic. He said No. There is no cable internet access in the area. There are a few areas in the city of Guadalajara, though, that have internet via cable.

When asked when it may be available, he smiled and said maybe this summer. He was smiling because some 3 years ago, he had told me, in three months

So it looks like although he would love to be able to provide the service, that it will not be lakeside any time in the near future.
