Re Overpriced yes. What rental problem?

Of course houses are overpriced in the Lakeside. It makes no economic sense that one can rent a perfecly good house for $600 a month that someone just bought for $150,000-$200,000. The rule of thumb has it that you should be able to rent such a house out for at least $1,500 a month. As long as rentals are such a bargain - and homeowners are at such a disadvantage (and, in my opinion, they will continue to be) it makes no sense to buy. Furthter, the gentleman who commented on the inability to make changes o a rental, such as adding a satellite TV system, etc., obviously doesn't know about renting in Mexico. It ain't Kansas. The renter here is assumed to have a much more proprietary interest in a house (or apartment, or whatever). In our case, here in Mazatlan, we pay only $300 U.S. a month for a three-bedroom 1 1/2 bath apartment, with a spectacular view of the ocean. However, when we rented the place (for which we have a three-year lease, which will be almost routinely extended) it had no fridge or stove. We have since added those, as well as ceiling fans and other odds and ends.<p>Luego
