Airfares--U.S. to Guadalajara

Can't Post |
Has anyone found a good, reputable resource (e.g. ticket consolidator or whatever) for discount airfares from U.S. cities to Guadalajara?

I used priceline.com last month to go from St Louis to Mexico City.I paid $199 plus tax. You put the amount you want to pay and if they have it you can buy it. I put $150 and was denied but was offered the $199 and took it. But you must be very flexible because priceline will set the itinerary and you have to take it or loose it. Good luck

r.t. from u.s.to mx, certain departing cities (like l.a.) seem to have the "deals". r.t. originating in mx to u.s, don't know, good question.

I have tried all the suggested sites, also airlines.com, Continental, American, and the answer is always the same, "error in originating city, flights must originate in the U.S." So for all of us who live here, how does one get a "special" deal, or even info on a flight from Guad. up to the states and back? Dear Neil Camp, we miss you, where are you?

Last year I paid $750 Canadian from Montreal, this year its another game. Manzanillo and PV are no option if you stay more than 2 weeks.

hysterical. Wanted to go to Fort Lauderdale, they don't go there. Tried GDL to Miami. The fare quoted, with many restrictions applying (#1 Limited space. Fare not available on all flights), was per person, $1522.USD plus tax or
for two people, inc. tax, 33,281.34 MP. That's thirty-three thousand pesos plus. Does anyone seriously pay these prices? Walking by the different travel agencies in town, I saw promotions of GDL to Los Angeles and return for USD $260, $279 and $280. I don't want to go to LAX, thought I would try Dallas. Simple, American AL to its home base, a quick run for only USD $489 plus tax. I just don't get it.

The cheapest flights....

are to the largest markets in the US: LAX and NYC. When I travel back and forth I go to NYC (not my closest airport) and fly. Two of my daughters live in Texas and use DFW and it costs them more ... this is interesting because I can take a flight from NYC to DFW to GDL and it costs me less than the DFW to GDL segment costs my daughters! If you use the Travelocity website and use the advanced search, alternate airports, and open date (in other words don't put in specific dates) you will find the best deals. Also, you might want to try the America West website. I don't know where you are flying from, but if you are over 62 and in their market, they have a senior fare program that's pretty cost effective. A couple (with only one over 62) can make a round trip from the US to Mex for $592.00 more or less. Aeromexico flights from NYC to GDL are also very cost effective.

If you think airfares are crazy from the US to GDL, you are in for a shock if flying from Canada. They vary between 1200 and 2000 Canadian $ forthe customery 6 months tickets. I think I vote with my wheels this year!

Last year my mother came down to Lakeside from Toronto and the cost of the ticket return was $700 Canadian.<p>Also, Canadians can fly quite cheaply into Manzanillo and PV a lot cheaper than flying into Guad and it's a direct flight.

Sorry, I do not understand your comment
>Manzanillo and PV are no option if you stay more
>than two weeks.<
What does this mean? Why are they "no option"? And what does two weeks have to do with anything?
My friends and family have taken a really cheap flight into PV, rented a car, had a nice drive to Guad and a lovely stay here at lakeside for one week to several months. You save a lot of money, have a rental car to get around in (or turn it in when you get here), go back to PV for your trip back to Toronto. Sounds good to me and it certainly worked fine for them. (Happy Thanksgiving)

Charters into Manzanillo or PV are for weekly or 14 days, no longtime stay such as 90, 120 or 180 days fares.

The cheapest flights &; Tax Information FMT

Can't Post |
Each time you fly to GDL you are paying 80.84usd
Of that amount 20.49 is the Mexican TOURIST tax
for the FMT. As a Mexican citzen or holder of
valid FM 2,3 or 9 you are exempt from the FMT
tax. Your problem with some airlines (CO) will
be getting them to take off the tax since it is
added by the comp. The tax was effective 7-1-99 &
I still have CO people trying to keep the FMT on
I've was told by A Mexican Citzen working for the
Mexican Consulate in Austin, TX that she pays it
because its part of the ticket price & they won't
take it off( CO again ) The remaining 60.45 is a total of MX Int't Arpt 21.35, US Int,l 26.40 &
3 others for security since 9-11. Also several
Houston travel agencies have quoted 405.00 rt on off
weekdays & that includes the 80.84 so its less,
its on CO, but the TA's understand the tax situation

Tax Problem for FM3 holders

Can't Post |
I have tried (not terribly diligently, but have spent a lot of time I didn't have) trying to get the FMT fee back from the airlines with no luck. Nobody seems to know what I'm talking about - they all pass the buck. Any suggestions out there?

Tax Problem for FM3 holders

Can't Post |
You have to get them to call up the fare basis
for the UK ( that is their code for the FMT tax)
on the computer.
It states that " Legal foreign residents of
Mexico are exempt " Also you can talk to a
supervisor & insist that they call the International Rate desk. When CO still had Freedom
Passes, since all taxes had to be paid after you
made actual reservations I always put the 20.49
on our AMEX Cards. If I got too fustrated with
the fight( at times my wife made me stop ) I just
cancelled the charges with AMEX, never heard a
word. The main suggestion; don't give up, you
are right.

Thanks for the info: I'll try, try, try again. It's helpful to have the code - maybe it wil convince them I sort of know what I'm talking about.
