It's probably not that much different from San Miguel, where it's supposed to be around 73 high today, around 36 by night. It was sunny and chilly midday when I went out--long-sleeved sweater and jeans. Yesterday we had an unexpected evening rain and it was pretty cold, never higher than 60 all day, I'd estimate, though the weather reports still said 73.

I don' t know if anyone is on this forum who actually lives in Guanajuato. If so, I'd love to hear from you. It's such a beautiful city.

Hi Carol,

For those of us that were raised on Celcius (Canadians, Europeans and Mexicans) would you be able to post both F & C? I am guessing the nights are pretty cold though, and maybe a little colder in GTO than San Miguel.

Gracias, and bundle up warm!

Sorry about that. Yes, I'll use C and F from now on. 73F is 23C, and 34F is 1C. 61F is 16C. I get my weather from The Herald, the Mexico version of the Miami Herald, because it's the easiest since I get the paper every day and it's at hand. These F-C conversions are from their report.

I understand the CNN website weather reports are more accurate for SMA, but both reports may use the weather at Queretaro for SMA anyway, or so I've heard.

I don't pay much attention to the exact numbers because it always feels hotter or colder than what the paper says anyway. I just look to get a rough idea. And then it doesn't rain when it says it will, and it dumps gallons on my head when the report says clear. I'm sure SMA is unique in that happening.

Err Marlene, it really isn't particularly difficult to do your own conversions:

°C = (°F-32)/1.8

Forecasts from CNN

Here's the link for the Guanajuato weather from CNN:

http://weather.cnn.com/...ast.jsp?locCode=GURX

As a comparison between Guanajuato and San Miguel weather, the CNN site says Guanajuato is 49F/9C right now, and Sunday it will be sunny with highs of 74F/23C, and lows of 46F/8C.

San Miguel is 50F/10C right now (shortly after midnight Sunday morning), with an expected high Sunday of 77F/25F. and low of 47F/8C, partly cloudy.

So Guanajuato is a wee bit cooler.

The weblink below is a great resource to have to convert just about anything to another measurement function. Convert a variety of measurements including temperature F to C and vice versa, see link here:

Yes, I would like to hear from anyone living there as well. "Goregous Guanajuato" is how the "book" (Lonely Planet Guide) begins it's chapters on that city and it's no exaggeration. I was there for several days last March (2003). Maybe residents want to keep it quiet, but it would be great to hear about living in that city as a foreign resident. Any takers? Thanks.

Some Mexican friends of mine said that foreigners aren't "permitted" to buy in Guanajuato. I doubt that there is some cabal that burns crosses on your lawn if someone tries to sell to a gringo, but is there anything to the sentiment that we are 'relegated' to SMA only??

Your friends are feeding you a line. Guanajuato is not within the restricted zone, nor has San Miguel de Allende been designated an Official Gringo Ghetto.

Puede ser.

What, pray tell, is the "restricted zone"? I hope you're referring to the '50 km from the coastline' area where foreignera are not allowed to own property. Sounds too much like "restricted" golf clubs of the (not that distant) past!

Yes, I was referring to the coastline and frontrea. Of which Guanajuato is neither.

No need to venture beyond google:

1. enter "convert 45 feet to meters" or whatever you want to know

2. hit enter and

3. BINGO!!
