It's called Flor de Cordoba. We had Sunday brunch there a year ago and it was awful. I've heard it's gotten better but haven't been back.

We had Sunday brunch there a number of times last March and found it to be great!! My 86 year old mother was down for 3 months and was always dragging us there as she liked it so much.

The responses to Flor de Cordoba offer a lesson; the only thing permanent in this world is change. Like the first respondent, I had a negative experience there over a year ago. The buffet was not protected from the flies, and they seemed to be consuming more than the patrons. A friend persuaded me to return this year, saying they had gotten religion, and not only had the food improved, but the sanitation practises as well. They were right. The buffet was much better protected and the food good. Other restaurants in the area have experienced similar ups and downs as well as price movement. So just because you've had a bad experience once, doesn't mean it will happen again. Another way to tell without going in is to do the truck-stop check. If there's a lot of cars in front, or lots of people in the place, you should have a good dining experience. One exception to this might be "Que", a restaurant on the lakeside of the Carreterra west of Ajijic. It doesn't seem to get a lot of play because most have to drive to it. But the food is excellent and plentiful. If it were within easy walking distance to Ajijic or Chapala, I bet it would be full of people all the time. I used to think that El Serape had the best burger Lakeside (and they still do have a good one), but the one at Que is great, especially with all of the condiments they bring to your table for you to select from.

Well, after literally years of hearing how terrible the food is at La Flor de Córdoba, I was reluctantly hauled into the place yesterday, as a friend insisted on lunching there. Convinced I would have a bad meal at best (and be poisoned at worst), I was astonished to find that my lunch was WONDERFUL, delicious, and to top it off, inexpensive. I had the chicken burger (which on weekdays includes the salad bar). The salads were fresh, extremely tasty, and covered to prevent flies from landing; the chicken burger was juicy, flavorful, and slathered with cheese and bacon as well as tomato and lettuce...and it came with a plateful of hot, crispy homemade french fries. The service was attentive, polite, and bilingual (if you need that) and the ambience is beautiful. All this for 50 pesos (including tip). I will go back any time, and please give me 20 lashes with a wet noodle for contempt prior to investigation.

The Cordova is located on the Ceraterra just a short distance east of the Fire Hall and almost next door to the Chula Vista Real Estate office.
Food is very good and includes a small salad bar too, and the have a Happy hour from 5-7pm at least on Wednesdays with musical entertainment and dancing from 7:30-9-30pm. Also on Thursdays,Fridays and Saturdays. This at least was last winter and hopefully has not changed.

It is WEST of the firehall on the mountain side of the careterra, just west of Century 21 and just before the Modelarama store in Chula Vista.
