"Por" or "Para", when to use

I'm a little confused about this word. My dictionary says they both mean "for" and for this meaning when would I use each. Thanks, Mike

They both are different contexts of the English: FOR.

Para, is use, or in order to.

Por, is across, along, and also per.

Gracias, Miguel

On 2nd thought, is it a silver soldering machine, as in the process, or is the machine made of silver?

Saludos,

Quevedo

Silver Soldering, is a type of welding, stronger than brazing, but not really soldering silver. Like gas plasma, and MIG soldering, a process.
