new year resolutions anyone?

After agonizing for awhile I've decided to send more money down south. I like to help those that deserve it but it absolutely chaps my hide to see the money wasted . An example: One brother in law has pulled his daughter out of prepa because there isn't enough money to support his vices and her schooling. The vices win. So if I send money, and he drinks, say, 3/4 s of it, then the 1/4 left over will pay for her education. I'd like to begin building a home in Guerrero so that my little nephews and nieces have a place to live. Bonehead cuñado sold his inherited property for a pittance and partied it away. So I am going to do it, knowing full well that only a small portion will do the good that it needs to, but its better than doing nothing. That is my resolution.

Feliz Año Nuevo,
Alex

We're going to pay the $300 to repeat the Level 2 Spanish class at Warren Hardy school here in San Miguel, since we had a hard time with it and promptly forgot everything we learned when we had to go back to the States for three months. I will learn more Spanish, I firmly resolve.

I called El Catrin restaurant to cancel our New Year's Eve reservations and thought I had my request ready in Spanish but the guy taking the call couldn't understand me. I kept saying "Necesito terminar mi reservations por Miercoles en el noche," and apparently terminar wasn't the right word, but I kept repeating, terminar, terminar, so he hung up.

I'd better go by there in person to make sure he crossed out our reservations.

Mine is simple: No mas Santa until next December. The little picture is Coco giving me my after Christmas haircut, what we used to call a GI. Now I look like a pealed onion. Smile

Happy New Year

maybe I'll look for a new avatar (or whatever that little picture is called), Elvis is kinda tired. Carol has that great big hat that looks like a cathedral, Rolly has a new hair cut, I'll have to come up with something.

I resolve that this year I will not permit my esposo to spend our every last peso on the stuff he loves to buy from eBay, even though his excuse is frequently to say he actually bought it as a surprise gift for me! Or it was so cheap he just couldn't say no!

One of the disadvantages of living close to the Texas border is that we keep a permanent post office box stateside so the difficulties of trying to order stuff for delivery in Mexico is totally alleviated. And since we don't watch TV, shopping on-line fills much of his down time. Gotta find the guy another hobby when he retires this February.
