Mexiquito would require a car (at least for me)--and there is a kind of "bad" neighborhood between Mexiquito and Infonavit Allende where you might have similar problems like where you are now. Walk around Guadalupe and the Infonavit and look for rental signs. Both areas are Mexican family neighborhoods, so they are safe, but probably somewhat noisy--so consider the location of your bedroom before you rent.

Thanks. It's a bit ironic that I looked at a pretty nice apartment in Guadalupe when I first got here. I have since walked around that neighborhood and have seen that it seems pretty decent. The rent wasn't bad, either. But then I found this place at a fantastically low monthly. Now I know why.

As for the noise, I'm pretty much used to the loud radios and the firecrackers at 5 a.m. Well, no I'm not, but that I can live with. Dog murderers and rock-throwing I can't.
