satellite tv dish

In Quebec we have an elliptical dish and Y pronged LND(LMB?) from Starchoice to pick up both english and french broadcasts. We don't have room in the car to bring the dish, so we're planning to bring just the reciever box and to buy the standard dish kit when we arrive. Anybody see any problems with this? We don't watch the french channels anyway.

Ian, you might want to bring the LNB with you. I think that you can buy a disk here with no trouble but a LNB here costs 50.00 USD. The 2 pronged one will work here. That is what we are using. The LNBs are easy to take on and off and you can just carry the one LNB back & forth.

Your split LNBF is meant to point at 2 satellites, only one of which reaches this far south. Luckily, the Satellite that has a strong footprint this far south is the one that carries almost all of the channels you want. If you already have the split LNBF, bring it with you. The installers down here would prefer the old stacked or Flashlight LNBF, but I have seen successful installations with the type of LNBF you have.

There are several installers who will find you a dish and install it for you. Now you already have an active account, I presume. Hopefully you will not have your systems off for too long during transportation, or you may need to get re-hit. And if you have ever tried to phone star choice you know that you may have to be on hold for 15 to 30 minutes. Canadian 800 numbers are not free down here. And you know of course, you don't tell Star Choice you are out of the Country
