WiFi in Rosarito

My background is pretty diverse, and one of the things that I have did is create a wireless community. It requires participation from the community, but what that allows is the community is able to participate in internet access without needing a local broadband (DSL/Cable) connection.

The other nice benefit is that if you have a device with has built-in wireless (laptops, PDA, etc.), you can connect throughout the coverage area. Having coffee? Want to browse your e-mail? Not a problenm if you have a wireless connection. Will this cost you $1500 m/n to connect? Not at all, because this is a shared wireless environment.

So the question, are there people in Rosarito that would be interested in such a connection and service. If you, please answer here or e-mail me directly at kcallis@c2associates.net

Hi guys. 802.11b/g is the way to go. I have been connected via a Fixed WiFi connection for 3 years along the shores of Lake Chapala. What Kim is talking about is an economical way to get a broadband connection perhaps ADSL or cable and then sharing it. It's a great idea and if you're near Kim I would highly recommend you consider that as an alternative.

A group I belong to up here in the Seattle area has a great web site you should visit.

Just to give a little follow-up on Wireless Communities. Most telephone companies charge high rates for DSL. Usually, it is charged based upon the bandwidth that you receive. The higher the bandwidth, the higher the fee. I am not familiar with the bandwidth and rates (yet), but I am sure that it is fairly stiff.

Now, imagine that you get a fast bandwidth, and you are not limited to sitting in the house connected to a line that may or may not be up. That you are sitting at the beach not far from your front door, or sitting at your favorite coffeehouse. This is what a wireless community brings you. Connectivity without the high price.

With this will come eventual telephone service... Calls over the internet, which I am sure that everyone has read about in the form of Vonage and Packet 8. The problem that you have right now is that you have to be close to the phone that is connected to your VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) provider. Once we have a working wireless community, you will be able to make calls wherever you have wireless connectivity.

If anyone wants to know more about this, feel free to e-mail me at kcallis@c2associates.net
