WARNING Virus attack on 9-11

It’s all over the headlines here in Microsoft land. Not only is there another security patch required for Microsoft XP and 2000 but there are two new emails scheduled to arrive in the next few hours carrying viruses.

What can you do?

1. Check Microsoft update to make sure you have the latest patch, one of which came out for XP & 2000 today,

2. Get the latest anti-virus update for your anti-virus software

3. Keep your firewall on. If you don’t have one, get one. Do not turn off your firewall simply because you need one or two ports (doors) open to use VoIP or what-ever, rather selectively open these ports. Continue to use a firewall to block access to all of those many, many other ports or entries to your computer. Don’t make it easy for someone to have access to your computer

and 4. DO NOT open any suspicious email attachments especially if they say 911.jpg or if someone wants you to open an attachment to check your account data. These attachments reportedly carry harmful viruses.
