Feliz domingo,

Hello, I was disappointed in the sección Amarilla. I tried to find escuelas de español in Coahuila and I got five in Torreon, which was good, but the University in Saltillo which has run intensive Spanish Language courses for years was not listed.

I would suggest you make a Google search and see what you can come up with.

If you cannot find a course in Saltillo that would meet your periods of study, try the 7th day Adventist language school in Linares Nuevo Leon. Their courses for Doctors and Businessmen are famous for results. Housing available, but strict--man. No radios or tape recorders in the past. Preferably no smoking, no jewelry, etc.----- Of course things may have changed a bit in 15 years.

I cannot reccomend Monterrey because of the contamination. Even one day is too much.

Matamoros, Tamaulipas also used to have a very good 7th day Adventist school that taught English classes to the maquiladora workers and they taught me Spanish on a one on one basis for six months. Cheap too. I was also able to work out a one day a week meeting with two students learning English where we would meet at a restaurant and speak half the time in English and the other half in Spanish.

If you would rather study on the American side, the Baptist Institute in Edinburg, Texas has a famous series of Spanish lessons where they immerse their missionaries.

I am mentioning these places because you mentioned Monterrey, which means I think that you are in the Rio Grande area, perhaps.

In searching Monterrey Mexico, remember that it has two r's. A search for Monterey with one r will give you nothing.

Good luck. Jerezano.
