Plain Old Telephone Service

Does it make sense to bring a telephone and plug it into the wall and get local service? Will it work like it does when you move from one house to another in the States?

Sure. A phone is a phone. Be it cordless or a $5 cheapy from a discount store. Even the caller ID option from my US phone works in Ajijic.
