Acapulco to Patzcauro via bus

We'll be landing in Acapulco at 7:00 PM and want to continue by bus to Patzcauro. I'm assuming there will be a trip from the airport to the bus station with little chance to catch a first class bus on short notice.
We'd like to arrive in Patzcauro at a reasonable hour without being exhausted. Would it be better to spend the night in ACA and leave at a reasonable hour in the morning and then make it a two stage trip by laying over in Ixtapa that night? Or if not in Ixtapa, where would a logical mid point be considering the availability of good bus connections etc? We would like to limit our time on the bus to maybe 5 to 6 hours at a time.
Any help on Bus lines, connecting points, reasonably priced hotels near the bus lines etc. would be greatly appreciated by two enthusiastic but elderly Mexophiles.
