Building Project Update for 21 June 2003

We have water! Not only do we have water, but we got it in only 4 days, not the 4 to 6 weeks we had been told. Interesting little story behind the prompt service. Check the webpage.

The power company was supposed to come on Friday to connect the power, but they were no-shows.

Looks like some of the families will start moving in late next week. This should make Martha's landlord happy since he has been expecting her to move for the last two or three months. Martha was going to move in this week without water or power, but cooler heads prevailed. Her unit has all the doors, cabinets and closets. Rosa will be short bedroom closets. Coco doesn’t have interior doors. It will take most of July to get the missing woodwork done.

We have many things left to do: Iron work for hand rails and security bars on the down stairs windows. A lot of paint touch-ups to do as well as a hell of lot of cleaning. Four wallpaper murals to hang. The air conditioners are not hooked up yet. I still have a bunch of electrical circuits to connect at the breakers. And a little more work on the TV distribution system headend. Enrique has a few more sinks to hookup. The painting, cleaning and life support things – plumbing, A/C, electricity, TV -- should be done next week. The other stuff will keep some of us going for a while longer.

I need to go to Home Mart to buy light bulbs. There are 125 lamp sockets to be filled.

This week's pictures are at www.rollybrook.com/06-21-03.htm

PS. Enrique, the keeper of the check book, has not come by to do our weekly 'numbers.' So I'll post the cost updates tomorrow (Sunday).Does anyone actually look at the cost info? If no one uses it, I might just skip it.

Hi Anna,

Well, for starters, you could do a weekly diary of your building experience, and pictures too.

I will be starting another project in 2 or 3 months -- near the end of this summer. It will be the remodeling of a 25 year old 2-bedroom house. We will be turning it into a two story 4-bedroom house.

I will definately try to do that once we get started down there and get hooked up online and get our plans approved and hire our Maestros etc. Our project will be in Nayarit and will consist of two guest suites/rooms and our apartment.(Phase 1) We are also planning on a pool but due to the large cost of installing a pool it may be postponed for another year or so. Anyway we do have a digital camera and some experience with website design etc. but will definately need your advice when the time comes!

Thanks again,

Anna
