First this disclaimer: I use Windows because I have to, not because I like it -- I don't. It has problems once in a while (too damn often for me!) Anyway, from time to time various files that Windows uses become corrupted on your hard drive. Sometimes this causes the function to stop all together, but perhaps mores often, it just doesn't work right, or maybe it screws up only once in awhile. The first major attack on these screwy problems is to reload Windows. It's a fairly easy (and boring) task that may take most of an hour. The mega attack is to reformat your hard drive. That is not for the faint of heart. It is a major undertaking. I was recently forced to reformat my C drive after 5 years of service. I was quite surprise at how much better my computer operated. It even does the complete shutdown routine which it had not done for 2 or 3 years. I mentioned the unmentionable (reformatting) because there are problems with Windows that may not be cured by reloading. I don’t know the details, but I do know from experience that when Windows is 'reloaded' not everything gets renewed, so there does come a time when reformatting really does have to be done. You'll probably want to call in an expert when that unhappy day arrives. For now, try reloading Windows and IE6. Rolly
