I'm too tired to write a big blurb this week -- I've been working my fat ass off in the killer heat. But I did manage to put together a better than average webpage for this week.

Give now, help stamp out summer!

Re: [Rolly] tile cutting question

I have a question about cutting the saltillo tile. When we had similar tile installed in our house in the states, the mason used a water drill outdoors to cut the tile. He said it prevented cracking and kept the dust down as well. Opinions? I've never seen it done that way in Mexico.

I was surprised, too. I had expected to see some sort of water bath. The way Ruben did the cutting and finishing of the cut surfaces worked very well, but it did make a hell of lot of red dust.

Jesus used the same grinder to cut away the brick walls so his over-sized cabinet would fit in the kitchen island. That operation made a lot more dust. I think he should have been wearing a mask, but he didn't want to.

The grinder they were using was the one welders use to clean up welding runs. A special wheel is used for the bricks and tiles that is different for the one used in welding.
