Permanent Motorhome in Mexico?

Can't Post | Private Reply
I would like to purchase a property in Progresso area and park a motorhome there for a few years until a house can be completed( winter project). I have heard a travel trailer can be imported and remain for a yearly $25 fee. Does anyone know if this also can be done with a motor home? Any info appreciated.

Thanks,

Chuck, you might find yourself listing the motorhome on your FM-3 then either opting for a Mexican automobile or semi-annually bonding a foreign job. The latter of course means returning to the border twice a year. Motorhomes are considered to be self-propelled vehicles capable of highway travel and therefore a motor vehicle. I have seen tiny trail motorbikes stripped of license plates and operating lamps admitted through Aduana because according to the aduanero "It isn't fit for the road".

David,

Thanks for reply. After a little research I think your suggestion would be the only way to keep a motor home down there long term. Sorry it took so long to reply but I am in the Air Conditioning buisness haven't had much time for internet lately. Am looking forward to the adventure this fall and winter.

Thanks again
