Call-Back services

Can't Post | Private Reply
I've seen a lot of traffic here in the last year about call-back services. I pretty much understand how they work and just in the last couple of days have received two phone calls from Ajijic and my Caller ID indicated a Florida area code.

My question.........are there any services that work in reverse? How can you make cheap phone calls from the US or Canada to Mexico?

We use a call back service offered by Vivian at
call4lesss@prodigy.net.mx
She can give you a "call back" number from any place. Our daughter uses our call back service from Canada and it is charged to our credit card.

I got a telephone card at my US Costco. I can call anywhere long distance in the states for 3.7 cents per minute and I can call to Jalisco from anywhere in the states for 18 cents per minute

I was referred to Vivian and used her call back service while I was in Mexico for almost 3 months. It worked perfectly and I had no problems. The charges were on my credit card. I recently questioned a charge from a company in Florida that I had never heard of. I'll bet I know the explanation! I've got a call back number for here too, and have no doubt it will work the same way. (If they aren't too disgusted with me for questioning the charge!)

Verizon Wireless just announced a 10 cent a minute rate for calls from the U.S. to Mexico to accomodate the large hispanic population in Southern California. I believe that there is a monthly charge of between $2 and $3 per month to get the lower rates.
Might be worth it if you have Verizon Wireless service from the states.

This site has the lowest rates I have seen. 15 cents per minute for calls from Mexico to Canada or the USA. Here is the link: http://www.americaonemd.com/about.htm

I looked this site and it seems to be for students or persons affiliated with students. Also in using their "rate calculator" it shows 1.04 per min. ??

I have checked Telcan web site and it looks good. They show .125 USD per minute from GDL to Canada. They do want me to fill out a credit application which is no big deal but different.

Has anyone else been using this service. It is hard for me to understand why most of the people lakeside seem to be paying .25 or .26 if something this good is really available.

I just picked up a telephone calling card at a grocery store frequented by Mexican Expats that allows me to phone from the US to Central Mexico for from between 3.78 cents to 8.33 cents per minute.

I phoned Ajijic from Seattle. The line quality was great and I was charged 6.76 cents per minute. That sure beats the rate I pay using my Costco calling card

I feel foolish but I can't say any more because it's the topic of my Tech Talk article in the May 23rd Guadalajara Reporter
