Refer to http://www.paisano.gob.mx/pasaduana.htm and to http://www.mexconnect.com/mex_/dtwhatstuff.html to determine what may be imported duty-free and how duty is imposed.<p>If you have the FM-3, you may be eligible to apply for the one-time duty-free permit to temporarily import your household goods and personal effects.<p>Each airline has its own rules for baggage allowances and excess, so you should check with the airline.<p>

: How many boxes can carry an airline ?<p>Until you have your fm3 you are restricted to a 12" tv. Check out the Seattle consulate (thru mex con? or Ajijic immigration?) for more info. p1 of 2. Sometimes airlines accept boxes; sometimes they don't. July 2001 we went to Belize on Cont w/ 2 boxes. Belizan woman on Am could not take hers. Our gear will be stored in a truckk/van registered to our son and stored in Tx until we get our fm3. We will take in very little junque, moststly for dog and cat. Hope this helps. Scan down and read the old stuff
