His "birthday" ("natalicio" in Spanish for someone who is dead---since "cumpleaños" means that they completed another year and someone who is dead can´t "complete" anymore years) is celebrated as a national holiday here in Mexico. He is not necessarily a symbol of peace in Mexico--that is just one of his most famous quotes--in fact they usually don´t quote the first part...just the part about "...el respeto al derecho ajeno es la paz."

("Muchos Gracias Jim" should be "muchas") de nada.

Natalicio refiere al día del nacimiento de cualquier persona, viva o muerta. El cumpleaños (aniversario del nacimiento) de cualquier persona se puede celebrar. El pasado 21 de marzo fue el cumpleaños 197 de Benito Juárez.
