While walking down the streets of Ajijic, Thursday, 2 salesmen from the states came up handing out brochures telling me about the great small dish system called DISH that they would install for me for only $800 that gave me all the American stations I wanted for free. It was too good to be true. Apparently they were selling US dish systems with a 24 inch dish (which I believe to be too small) and a cloned card that would give the unsuspecting customer programming until the next time Dish cracked down on the illegal cards. What does a dish system cost up North $200? You can buy a lot of programming for the $600 you saved. I had a friend who bought a system with an illegal card, his system kept on being shut down, and he had to keep on paying to get his card re-cloned. He later admitted to me that his card was getting cut off so often that he would have been smarter, just to have paid for the programming. Question. In the greater Guadalajara area, how large a dish does one need to get the US National feeds with "Dish"? Surely bigger than 24 inches. PS I hope you can tell that I am against cloning and stealing satellite signals.
