Hola a todos ...

Has anyone found a good chat room(s) for those of us practicing spanish? I have spent several hours out there in MSN chatland and had some good chats and feel like there has got to be more.

Those in the rooms that had spanish under-the-belt were slowed by we few who are just learning.
So ... anyone ... a chat room for spanish beginners/intermediates?

Man, you love Microsoft don't you. Between your .NET comment, using IE, and now MSN chat? Geez.

I used to go to #Spanish on DalNet. I was there all the time, and I talked to people from all over. It was a learning Spanish channel. I talked to people everywhere from Spain, Argentina, even Bolivia, Chile, and Colombia. Not many Mexicans. So I used to go there all the time, but after coming to Mexico it was really hard. The majority of Mexican ISPs seem to be banned from DalNet due to abuses.

By the way, I'm talking about IRC here. Ie, BitchX or XChat if you're a Linux type, on Windows, you're on your own. Ok fine mIRC is the biggest on Windows, but BitchX is better (on Linux, the Win32 version isn't quite up to par).

If you want to find Mexicans on IRC, try Undernet. However I have to warn you I have yet to find intelligent conversation around there. For example, check out #morelia.

My favorite chat room is espanglishchat.com. It is a dedicated spanish-English, English-Spanish chat where people from all over the world practice either Engish or Spanish with each other. It is free, easy to use and you meet lots of great folks. I give it at least 5 stars.

Yahoo Mexico has chats http://mx.yahoo.com/ as well as Yahoo US. They are pretty crazy but have voice and video. Mostly young people but nice to listen now and then if someone doesn't have a boom box going
