¿Qué significa guey?

Can't Post |
Anoche, una palabra guey fue visto en el programa Galavisión. Pienso que estaba pronunciado wey. ¿Alguien me dice que significa este palabra? Gracías.

Hola,

Güey quiere decir "dude" in inglés, pero en manera de baboso.

Saludos, Bote

It comes from "buey", which means "bull". It's also pronounced "wuey" = <way>

Calling someone "buey", mainly a guy, is offensive. It could mean you're calling him "stupid", or it could mean the same as "te están poniendo los cuernos" - "they're putting the horns on you" which means that his gf or wife is cheating on him :)

I've also heard it "güe"...guess it's just to make it sound less offensive.

so, you have "buey" (shouldn't use it tooooo often unless you're talking about the animal), "wuey", "güey" or "güe"

One small very important correction Rey.

ox [ks]
n., pl. oxen [ksn].
1. an adult castrated male of any domesticated species of cattle, esp Bos taurus, used for draught work and meat.

Muy oportuna corrección, estimada Mereja.

¿Quién es el marido de la vaca? "El toro", contestarán muchos. Nooo: ese es el amante. El marido es el buey.

Saludos,

Quevedo

This is a very interesting word, and the sort that defies direct translation.
As pointed out here, Buey is an ox, steer, etc...the emphasis on castrated. (what in dogs they call "fixed" for some reason :-)
But guey is another variation of the word that, for some reason is much less "printable". You can say buey or wey (another version) in front of somebody's mama, but NOT guey.
Wey, is the closest to our understanding as "dude" or whatever, you hear it every other words when young knuckleheads talk.
You see hats that say "Que Me Mires.." and a picture of a longhorn steer head. You will fill in buey, wey, or guey depending on your level of culture.
