Chipotle or Chilpotle?

Hi all,

I noticed that there are two spellings for the chipotle chili: one spelled with the extra L (chiLpotle).

Is both correct and one is just the older spelling?

Chipotle is the most common spelling, you will also see it spelled chipocle sometimes. It somes from nahuatl: chili + poctli so it looks like the transliteration comes in several forms.
