Burn't Milk Candy

Can't Post | Private Reply
I am trying to find a traditional Mexican recipe for a candy that I believe in English is called "Burn't Milk" candy. Not sure about that. It is sort of like a caramel. It is not the sugary/granular type of praline. I hope someone knows what I am referring to.

I have had this candy as after meal treat in some Mexican restaurants in Texas. Anyone out there know how to make it?

Thanks

Bill

Bill, here is a link to a recipe I have used which uses pecans. You can leave them out ofcourse and it should be very close to what you are accustomed to.

Biil, try it the easy way:
Boil an unopened can of sweetened condensed milk for about 1 hour.
Place can in cold water until completely cool.
Finally, open the can...Voila!! Stick your finger in and enjoy a taste!

Maybe you are thinking of cajeta...you can make a pretty fair subsitute, as another poster offered, or you can buy it in jars in most places that sell Mexican groceries. The brand I like best is Coronado Cajeta de Leche de Cabra. Delicious.

None of the replies so far osund like what I "think" you are wanting....

What color, shade, texture, shape was it/

Did it look like a praline?

Was it shiny or rough looking?

Did it have visible pieces of nuts in it?
