Phone Internet Splitter

Can't Post |
Hi to all!

Everytime I use my internet I really cannot use my phone since it is hook up to the net. When someone would try to call me they will just be frustrated for a busy tone. I don't want to have another line for practical reason nor a cellphone to serve as a standby phone.

Does anybody out there can tell me where can I find a device so that even I'm using the net, the existing phone call received call and maybe call outside. I understand that in some place in the US some tel. co. has this kind of system. TELMEX said they don't have. Would appreciate your assistance!!

They advertise on TV a box that will allow you to see/hear incomming calls. With caller ID you could see. I heard a rumor that it requires call waiting? You can't do both for long (20-30 secs). Think they are $40-50us

I believe that AOL advertises that the new AOL will notify you if there is an incoming call. I think that, if you want to take the call, the AOL connection will be terminated. I don't know if this is an optional service with an additional charge or not.
You cannot have both connections up at the same time unless you have a DSL line or a cable modem. Incidentally, if you are a heavy internet user one of the high speed options (DSL, Cable Modem, etc.) is well worth it.

The AOL service is called Call Alert and is $4.95 per month. If you do an internet search for "internet call waiting", there are other companies that also offer the service at different costs and some with different extra features.

Go to Google and type in " Call manager " and you will have a few sites come up.

This link will get you to one of them offering a FREE trial. But it only works in the US and Canada.

Both Telmex and Terra claim to offer systems that let you hook up to the internet while maintaining a phone line. Without having two lines.

Personally, I have two lines because I figure it's probably cheaper (you might check and see what it's like where you live). In some places a second line isn't too costly.
