Ed, the USGS at first reported magnitude of 7.3, but now shows it at 7.8, which is a BIG one. I measure about 100 miles as the proverbial crow flies from Ajijic to the apparent epicenter on the Colima coast, SSW of the city of Colima. Based on my experience in the San Francisco CA area for over 25 years, this earthquake is big enough and close enough to cause some damage Lakeside. We experienced the movement as rolling, rather than sharp. There is no apparent damage to our reinforced-masonry house in Riberas del Pilar, but only time (for reports to be gathered) will tell whether or not there was damage in the Chapala/Ajijic area.
